To be Carrefour is to be uncompromisingly committed to sustainable development. And to be a leader today is to shape a sustainable future. Our vision for a brighter tomorrow is what fuels the strategic actions we are taking today to actualize that vision.

Through new initiatives we have implemented—and will continue to implement—in our stores, we aim to create a pleasant shopping experience for our customers as well as to show that sustainability and inclusiveness are the principles that guide everything we do. For instance, the diversity of our employee population reflects that of our communities—and these employees are the very fabric of Carrefour. Thus, we are proud to have historically oppressed community members represent our workforce, and we remain committed to doing our part to ensure people in all spheres of society are afforded opportunities to participate in the labor market.

At Grupo Carrefour Brasil, we believe we become part of each community in which we operate. As such, one of our key objectives is to serve these communities. We do so by implementing environmental protections, promoting diversity, and fostering solidarity. Grupo Carrefour Brasil is also unwaveringly committed to contributing to zero deforestation. Therefore, we act locally and globally to raise awareness and engage our production chains (soybean, palm oil, livestock, timber, and other commodities) in more sustainable models of operation.

We also became a signatory of the Global Compact, a corporate sustainability initiative proposed by the UN to encourage companies to align their strategies and operations with the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The agenda’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) center around eradicating poverty, protecting the planet, and working towards worldwide peace and prosperity.
